Moynat & Louis Vuitton · 2012–2022

For a decade, Taein Song worked at the intersection of painting and the French luxury maison. Through bespoke lettering, hand-painted personalisation and illustration, she brought individual stories into dialogue with each Maison’s heritage. These selected works trace the images she made for objects, occasions and the people who carried them.

The Maison years

Personalisations

At Moynat, Taein developed original letterforms and hand-painted trompe-l’œil designs for leather goods, expanding the ways a client could make a piece their own. At Louis Vuitton Maison Vendôme, she met clients personally and transformed their memories and journeys into painted designs for trunks and other objects. Among them were travel labels imagined for a particular person and place, then brought to life by hand.

During her years at Moynat, Taein also created illustrations for openings, events, magazines and digital communications. Drawn and painted by hand, each image offered a new way to express the Maison’s world—through its craft, its sense of travel and the atmosphere of a particular occasion.

Selected Bespoke Trunks

At Moynat, Taein translated creative director Ramesh’s ideas into design sketches for bespoke trunks, from collaborations with Chaumet and Pierre Hermé to original creations such as a trunk for a kick scooter and a basket trunk designed to sit on a bicycle. At Louis Vuitton, she conceived trunk designs in response to private clients’ requests and prepared proposals for the atelier. This is a selection of that work.

Created at Moynat for Chaumet, this jewelry presentation trunk opens to reveal a necklace at its centre. Taein’s sketches developed the creative director’s vision into a design for the finished piece.

    Louis Vuitton — Private Commissions

At Louis Vuitton, Taein developed original bespoke trunk proposals in response to private clients’ requests. These sketches explore the objects each trunk would hold, its opening mechanism and interior arrangement, and were prepared for the atelier.
